The Township recently consulted with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) regarding affordable housing deed restrictions. Based on their guidance, deed restrictions may only be extended within one year of the current round’s expiration date (June 30, 2034) in order to qualify for the next housing round.
This discussion included members of the Township’s Affordable Housing Subcommittee, a concerned resident, representatives from DCA, county officials, as well as Councilman Ray Coxe and Deputy Mayor Michelle Voorhees.
To ensure there is no ambiguity or differing interpretations, the Township is scheduling a follow-up discussion with the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA).
