Over the next sixty days, Medford Township Council will be focused on two major responsibilities:
- Advancing the CY2026 Municipal Budget
• Addressing our Affordable Housing obligations
Transparency matters. Below is a clear outline of how both processes will move forward and where residents can participate.
Affordable Housing & Redevelopment Plan
Last night (3/3), Council received a presentation from Taylor Design on the proposed Redevelopment Plan. We included a dedicated public comment section to allow for focused and meaningful community engagement.
Here is the timeline moving forward:
- March 9– Redevelopment Subcommittee meeting
• March 12 – Special Planning Board meeting to study the plan
• March 17 (Town Hall) – Second presentation, public hearing, second reading, and consideration of adoption of the Redevelopment Plan and naming of a redeveloper
At the same time, we continue working to complete obligations established under prior Affordable Housing rounds. That work remains ongoing and important.
As we move forward, our objective is clear: compliance with state mandates, long-term stability for Medford, and thoughtful planning that protects the character of our community.
CY2026 Municipal Budget
On February 27, Council received the initial 2026 budget and capital requests. I want to thank our Chief Financial Officer for her professionalism and preparation.
Key dates:
- March 10– Governor introduces the State Budget (municipal aid clarification)
• March 17 (Tuesday Town Hall) – Budget Workshop
• March 21 (Saturday Workshop) – Additional Budget Workshop and formal budget introduction
• April 14 (Tuesday Council Meeting) – Further discussion and public questions
• April 23 (Thursday Town Hall) – Dedicated budget presentation and engagement
• May 5 (Tuesday Council Meeting) – Second reading, public hearing, and adoption of the 2026 Budget
These are significant matters that shape Medford’s future — financially and structurally. I encourage residents to attend meetings, review materials, and stay engaged.
We are committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and careful planning as we move through this important season for our township.
