This lively cutting edge program provides information on the potential negative impacts of technology on the developing brain and behavior. Discover how texting, social networking, gaming and electronic interactions can contribute to decreased social skills and violence in the home and school, and the potential for substance abuse. Learn steps parents and school personnel can take to decrease acting out, improve family life balance, enhance social interactions and decrease the potential for high-risk behaviors.
Participants will:
1. Be able to cite two ways today's technology contributes directly to creating behavioral issues;
2. Discover how video games can cause changes in brain function and potentially contribute to poor social skills, high risk behavior, acting out in the home and school, and substance abuse; and
3. Learn what can be done to improve the physical, emotional, and social health and learning of children, while advancing intraschool and family relationships.
Provided through a grant from the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Department of Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health & Youth Services
