announces its
10th Annual Juried Poetry Contest
Monday, December 11, 2017 at 7pm
This annual contest was established to give recognition to the literary arts and local poets.

Entering poets must be at least 18 years of age. Any form of poetry or subject is acceptable. All submitted
work must be original as well as the work of the poet entering the contest and not previously published. Up
to 3 poems may be submitted by each entrant. There is no fee to enter.
The contest guidelines and applications are available at the Medford Arts Center website www.MedfordArts.com.
They can also be picked up in person at the MAC during weekend gallery hours (18 N. Main St) or at the
Medford Township office during business hours (17 N. Main St.)
The contest opens 10/1/2017 and closes at the end of the business day on 10/31/17. Please note no email
submissions will be accepted. The completed application can be dropped off at the Township Municipal
Office or postmarked no later than Oct. 31st to: Medford Township, 17 North Main Street, Medford NJ 08055.
Please mark the envelope “POETRY CONTEST” All entries must be typed without the author’s name appearing
on the hardcopy since this is a blind judging.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three poems. A reception will be held on December 11th for all
contest finalists who will be invited to share their work. The reception and poetry reading will be open to the
public. An Open Mic session will also be included. (PRIZES: $100 1st place, $50 2nd place, $25 3rd place)
Ann Magee is an elementary school educator, children’s writer, and lifelong learner. She volunteers for Art
Goes to School and is a docent at the Dr. James Still Historic Site and Education Center in Medford, NJ. She
is the mother of three teenagers and resides in Medford. Her love for reading and writing poetry spans more than twenty years. She believes poetry has the ability to fill our hearts as well as empty them onto the page.
