Notice of Public Hearing

On January 17, 2017 the Township Council of the Township of Medford, Burlington County, New Jersey authorized, by Resolution 32-2017, the Township of Medford Planning Board to undertake a preliminary investigation to determine whether the following areas of the Township, qualify as a “Non-Condemnation Redevelopment Area(s)” or alternatively “Rehabilitation Areas” according to the criteria set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-et.seq. of the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL).

  1. The Fair Housing Opportunity: Tofamo area consists of Block 401, Lot 13.01 and Block 403, Lots 2 and 7;
  2. The Fair Housing Opportunity: Arc Wheeler area consists of Block 401, Lot 9.02;
  3. The Fair Housing Opportunity: Flying W area consists of Block 301, Lot 5.01, Block 303, Lots 1, 3, and 4; and
  4. The Fair Housing Trust Fund:  Trollinger/Key area consists of Block 302, Lots 14, 26, 27, 28, and 49.

Particularly, the Township Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the Township for the Planning Board to conduct such an investigation for parcels proposed to be included in Medford Township’s Fair Share Housing Plan to satisfy the Township’s constitutional obligation to provide a realistic opportunity for the Township’s regional share of affordable housing development within the Township.

Pursuant to this assignment mandated by the Township Council, the Planning Board engaged in the preparation of this preliminary investigation to determine whether the specified areas of the Township are in fact in need of Redevelopment, Without Condemnation, or Rehabilitation, in the alternative.

The Planning Board has prepared the preliminary “Need for Redevelopment, without Condemnation” and/ or “Rehabilitation Investigation”, which contains maps showing the boundaries of the potential Redevelopment and/or Rehabilitation areas and the location of properties included therein and provides a statement setting forth the basis for the investigation.

The Redevelopment Law requires the Planning Board to conduct a public hearing prior to making its determination on whether any of the referred Study Areas or portions thereof shall be designated as a “Non-Condemnation Redevelopment Area(s)” and/or “Rehabilitation Area(s) prior to making its determination. 

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 7 o’clock pm, prevailing time, at the Medford Township Public Safety Building, located at 91 Union Street, Medford, New Jersey 08055.

Copies of the aforesaid documents are available for public review at the Planning Office in the Medford Township Municipal Building located at 17 N Main Street, Medford, New Jersey 08055 and may be inspected by any interested party during regular business hours, normally 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
