Atlantic City Electric Nearing Full Restoration;
Power Back for 97% Percent of Customers
Crews Working to Restore Power to Remaining Customers
MAYS LANDING, N.J. (January 24, 2017) – Atlantic City
Electric (ACE) is nearing full restoration of power to customers who lost
electric service in the wake of the January 23, 2017 Nor’easter. Of the 60,000
customers who lost power, 97 percent—58,000 customers—have been restored.
ACE is dispatching crews, made up from more than 365 line
personnel, to the remaining localized outage areas. This includes line
personnel from our sister companies, Potomac Electric Power Company and
Delmarva Power. When the damage is severe, restoring power to a single customer
can take as much time as restoring service to a large group of customers. The
majority of remaining outages affect individual customers.
Damaged areas where Atlantic City Electric is working to
restore power today include Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and
Salem counties.
“We are hard at work tackling these localized outages and
restoring power to the remaining customers without electricity,” said Vince
Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president. “We will not be satisfied or
diminish our efforts until every customer affected by the January 23 Nor’easter
is restored.”
Atlantic City Electric appreciates customers’ patience and
cautions that new outages may occur as tree limbs continue to fall and disrupt
service and crews switch main power lines off and on to allow them to work
safely.
Atlantic City Electric expects to restore service to all of
its customers impacted before midnight. However, the vast majority of customers
without power will have their service restored before that time.
The company urges customers to remain in contact with our
customer call centers. By responding to call-backs and reporting lingering
outages, customers play an integral role in the company’s ability to identify
persistent, localized outages. Customers may report outages at atlanticcityelectric.com or by calling
1-800-833-7476.
