The Medford Historical Society presents
the 41st Annual Betty Molloy Quilt Show
Saturday June 11th and Sunday June 12th 10am-4pm
at Kirby’s Mill 275 Church Rd and Fostertown Rd in Medford
Come tour the historic mill decorated with a multitude of beautiful handmade quilts presented by various exhibitors from throughout the area. These beautiful works of art are in various shapes and sizes and have many different patterns and themes.
This year, on display will be a recent donation from the Haines family; a handmade quilt from 1900 that was representative of a number of the Medford families living here during that time. Each square was sold for the price of $3.40 and the purchaser could list their name/names in the square. Each name or design was then hand stitched onto the square and the squares were then pieced together to form this beautiful piece of history. The quilt was then auctioned off and won by Mr. Samuel Garwood, who then passed the quilt through his family where it ended up in the hands of Carleton and Susan Haines who have now donated the quilt to the Medford Historical Society in memory of his mother Irene Garwood Haines for all to enjoy.
Come take a look at this quilt and all the others. The event is free but donations are welcomed!
Refreshments will be available for purchase in the Mill kitchen, and free parking is available off of Fostertown Road.
If you are interested in displaying a quilt, please contact or event chairwoman, Theresa Freedman at 856-625-2256 or email tfreedman42@gmail.com. Quilts can be self-made or gifted from others; the workmanship and artistic quality is what is requested and appreciated.
